So, this is an album of freely-improvised music based on folk themes; or, this is an album of mostly traditional tunes played by free improvising musicians; or… well maybe it’s just the music we make.

We had in mind that we would explore the English folk tradition but it quickly spread a bit wider- a tune from Spain, one from Sweden, a couple of originals. As we explored this material on and off over a couple of years we tried a few ‘arrangements’ of the pieces, settled for a while on a way of playing them... and then moved on.
The intention was always that the playing remained fresh and surprised us!

The album was recorded in one session and for the most part we just began playing and found our way to the tunes.
So, four years in the making, but in the end it just tells the story of where we were up to that day.
